Say Love with Homemade Dog Food
Nothing says love like a home cooked meal. While this is true for our other family members, many people are learning to share their love for their pet by making homemade dog food. The food can contain many nutritious ingredients without all those strange additions that show up on the label of most commercial dog foods.
A good homemade dog food recipe contains starches, vegetables and meats. Pets with health issues may need some other additions to the food. For example, a dog with dry skin can benefit from the the addition of brewer’s yeast, eggs and corn oil.
There are many experts today claiming that most dog food that is commercially prepared in unfit for consumption by the pets. Meat that is too bad for humans to eat should not be fed to their pets.
As a basic rule of thumb, the food fed the pet should be 40 percent meat, 30 percent vegetables and 30 percent starch. Be sure to choose vegetables and starches that are digestible for the dog.
